For decades granite has been polished manually using hand grinders and pads which is a very labor intensive process. Often pads can be skipped or cycles are not completed fully, which can result in a sub-standard finish. Our use of automated equipment ensures that a job is cut and polished to perfection, resulting in a beautiful finish every time. Also, with hand polishing pressure can vary, which can result in a wavy finish; however, in-line polishers and CNC’s monitor and provide consistent pressure which ensures that the finished product is defect free.
Our CNC Saw gets dxf files from laser templator and cut slabs to precise measurements. It is a very common practice in the industry to manually do sink cut-outs in granite. At Atlas Granite Inc. most of our cut-outs are done using robotics. A dxf file template is emailed or downloaded to the controlling computer, which then runs the process of cutting with a diamond bit, resulting in minimal movement on the stone and as a result, the cut-outs are exact as per template.
